We love games in our house. Everything from traditional board games, to new and exciting apps on the iPad!
Since my little girl has started to understand games a little more, we have been collecting more and more Orchard Toy games. Orchard Toys produce some fantastic educational games and puzzles. Chance are you would have seen them on the shelves in supermarkets, as well as featuring on the Amazon best sellers lists! She recently received the Where’s My Cupcake game made by Orchard Toys.
What is Where’s My Cupcake?
Where’s my cupcake is a simple matching game. The premise of the game is to try and match as many cupcakes as possible, all whilst being polite to your team mates!
The orchard toys website describes it as…
Match and collect delicious cupcakes in this fun-filled game for little bakers in the making! This matching and memory game features simple gameplay and delicious cupcakes of different flavours – from chocolate to strawberry to lemon. Remember your manners, as other players offer to share their cupcakes with you! You can also extend the gameplay and spark your baking inspiration with the free cupcake recipe included!Orchard Toys
Included in the box is the following:
- 4 plate boards
- 40 cupcake cards (4 of each design so 10 different cupcakes in total)
- 1 recipe board
- 1 instruction leaflet
The idea is to lay out one of each cupcake card face up on the table. The remaining cards are then placed in a pile. Once everyone has been given a plate, players take it in turns to turn over the cupcake card at the top of the pile. If it matches one of the face up cupcakes you can take them both and add them to your pile. If it matches the one on the top of your already won cupcakes you can also take it. However, if it matches one of the other players top cupcakes you can offer it to them but they have to say “Please” in order to have it!
If the cupcake doesn’t match any that are face up, in your own pile or another players, it get added to the face up cupcakes for next time!
Before we read the instructions correctly, we had just started playing our own version of snap using the different cupcake cards. Once we got the hang of it, it seemed really straight forward!
The only downside was the design of the cupcake cards themselves – mainly because my little girl always wanted to get the ones with the smarties on the top!
Something extra that I thought was a lovely idea was that it included a cupcake recipe on the back of one of the cards!
Who is it suitable for?
Where’s my cupcake is suitable for little ones ages 3 – 6 years old (and obviously adults too!). The game comes with 4 plates so it can have up to 4 players at a time.
Is it worth the money?
We received this game as a birthday present after my little girls birthday party. It would usually retail for around £8 which I wouldn’t mind paying for a game that is going to get a lot of use. I would definitely say it was worth the money for the amount of times we’ve played it!
